Network & Off-Grid Options

Office mode

• The appliance sits on your LAN; enrolled phones, laptops and tablets connect directly or over the firm VPN.
• No public ingress and no outbound path for client content — only the optional signed update pull.
• Your keys for encryption at rest; TokenGrill holds no key material.
• No inbound connection from TokenGrill; support is delivered through your access process.

Offline mode

Disable networking entirely and the appliance still works. Attorneys pair a laptop or tablet peer-to-peer — at a deposition, a client site, or a coffee shop — and run full document review with no internet connection anywhere in the path.

Trade-offs to plan for

• You take on physical custody of the device — treat it as you would a file server holding client files.
• A local open-weight engine trades some raw capability against the largest cloud models; most review, extraction and drafting work does not notice.
• Updates require a periodic outbound connection, or a manual package load if you stay permanently offline.
